Training Dogs

Dogs within our homes
There are many people in this world who own dogs. The majority of these people successfully do so, time and time again – without really thinking about it.
The saddest thing for me to see is someone trying so hard to do the right things when they buy a puppy or dog and failing to the extent of making both the dogs and there own lives very unhappy.
What makes this even sadder, in most cases the reason for them failing begins before they even get their new companion, in other words it is preventive.
By getting advice from the correct place, before you buy or even choose your dog, you can prevent so many mistakes. This advice should not come from any one else but a qualified person, with hands on experience. There are so many people that will give advice and do not fully understand dogs at all – it is not like a book you follow, every dog is different.

We now have a great choice of ways to train a dog - lure and reward and clicker training are ways to get a dog to want to work for you instead of having to.
Which would your dog choose?

Most dogs are destroyed because they have been misunderstood or the wrong training methods have been used.
If more people took the time to learn about their feelings, the way they learn and the different ways to teach a dog, the world would be a better place for them to live.
My goal in training you and your dog
My aim is to help prevent these misunderstandings and to help cure them. I work on teaching you how to understand your dog and to help you reduce stress levels in your dog. Every living thing learns better when not stressed. Stress can cause dogs to become uncontrollable, due to being mentally unable to absorb anything you try to teach them.
Some problems our dogs develop are not curable, just like us all, but with understanding and with the correct handling, your dogs and you can live much happier lives.
My Mission and Vision
My philosophy is simple. I recognise every dog and handler team to be unique and give individual advice, training and care. To try and lead people to a clear knowledge and understanding of the way dogs learn, using kind, fair and effective methods and to lead the training and grooming industry into optimum solution for all dogs’ well-being, security and safety now and into the future.
My vision is for all dogs to be effectively trained through dog-friendly techniques and so making them happy, lifelong companions in a relationship based on mutual trust and respect.
Socialization

Socialization and habituation is a vastly important part of owning a dog. Neglect in these areas in the early stages, causes many of the problems later you look for help on with your dog. Get it right from the start.
Children and Dogs'
I first became more interested in this part of dog training when I got pregnant with my son. I went on to do a special study on children and dogs for my Animal Care College Instructor Theory Course and received top grades on it, by writing about what I learnt and how I dealt with it and solved problems.
To me the way forward, to help a better understanding and a better future for all dogs’ in the years to come has something seriously missing in today’s world. It is not enough, as years have proved, to educate owners within dog training classes – as most of the time it is to late, people are already coming for help – not guidance. All the same mistakes are occurring over and over again, year after year.
Part of the cure lies in a part of instructing that is vastly pushed to one side, it lies with our children. We need to educate our future generations, before they have learnt the misunderstandings we have suffered from concerning dogs’ and the mechanics of the way living things learn. We have discovered the success to a good dog lies with early education; we must use this on our selves. And by teaching our young ones we can reach the ignorant parents.
I believe that until we are doing something about teaching our children what we have learnt so far, in an interesting and enjoyable way – no matter what we teach in a dog training class, seminar or indeed write in a book, we will fail to have the impact needed and the mistakes will go on and on.
As an Instructor our work is now desperately needed, not just in the training class - but in the schools, homes and minds of children and their parents – we have GOT to get our knowledge over to the place where it matters most – THE FUTURE.
To me this is “THE WAY FORWARD.”
